In the First World War the armed forces suffered through dreadful weather conditions, being so far away from home, severe illness and, of course, the dangers of warfare itself. Back home, groups such as the Mount Hawthorn Ladies Patriotic Guild devoted themselves to providing comfort and support to their menfolk serving the nation.
On March 27 from 1.30pm to 4.00pm, the Friends of ANZAC Cottage will be exploring the activities of this determined group and its impact on the soldiers with displays and a presentation at 2.30pm.
ANZAC Cottage is situated at 38 Kalgoorlie Street, Mount Hawthorn and entry is by donation.
Afternoon tea and cold drinks are available for a gold coin donation. And to cool you down, ice-creams are also for sale. Due to COVID restrictions, pre-booking for this event is necessary. To book please go to the ticketing link or call Anne on 0411 44 55 82 or email friendsofanzaccottage@gmail.com.
The Friends of ANZAC Cottage acknowledge the support and encouragement of the National Trust of Western Australia. ANZAC Cottage is managed by the National Trust on behalf of the community and the Government of Western Australia.
