The drawings observe a place on the way to somewhere else, like twilight is between day and night, and the edge of a forrest is between wolves and sheep.
From an essay by Christopher Crouch
An Inwards Facing Journey – Field Studies
By Cherish Marrington
Gallery Central is pleased to present an exhibition by artist and former graduate Cherish Marrington.
Cherish works as an artist, printer, set designer and stylist, based in Boorloo | Perth.
Her works can be found in the spaces between introspection, intrigue, and apprehension, characterised by an intense mark making, which holds a definitive place in an image. The often-linear works can range in expression, play with scale a lot, and have the viewer question time and place. Other works by cherish include set designs and animated films.
Exhibitions include:
• 2022 – a gentle misinterpretation: australian artists and chinoiserie, fremantle arts centre fremantle, australia
• 2022 – strangers on the shore, holmes à court gallery, west perth, australia, part of the perth festival
• 2020 – sum of parts, gallery central, perth, australia
• ish marrington: unclean & hateful birds, gallery central, perth, australia
