Japingka Gallery welcomes you to this delightful exhibition of works by Barkley Artists that convey a joyful sense of life on country.

Artists from four communities in Central Australia exhibit their work under the banner of Barkly Artists. The area of Barkly Artists covers over one-quarter of a million square kilometres. The art groups are Tartukula Artists at Tennant Creek, Epenarra Artists at Wutunugurra, Kulumindini Arts at Elliott and Artists at Canteen Creek.

The diverse artworks share a degree of innocence in the views of country and group activities. The narrative style of the paintings reflects the local preference to exclude traditional motifs and symbols that dominate Central and Western Desert art. In its place are images of Country where people have traveled and harvested bush medicine and bush food from native plants.
