After knock-out performances at Creswick and Castlemaine Festivals, Tenzin returns to the Palais Hepburn on his Be the Ocean concert tour. Connecting and inspiring through sound, song and imagination.

Tenzin Choegyal is a master of traditional Tibetan instruments, but is best known for his extraordinary vocal ability. His cantering rhythms, soaring vocals, exquisite flute solos and audience rapport have established him as a favourite on the world music scene.

A son of Tibetan nomads, Tenzin feels a particular connection to the music of the Himalayan plateau, drawing inspiration from classical Tibetan texts and poetry and proudly continuing the Tibetan nomadic lineage which is central to his repertoire. At the same time, he effortlessly embraces diverse genres and musical styles, along with an international cast of collaborators, bringing Tibetan music firmly into the contemporary world. Tenzin collaborates with artists from all streams of contemporary music including major works for stage and film with Philip Glass and his Grammy-nominated album Songs from the Bardo with Laurie Anderson.

Through his music and warm explanations, Tenzin takes audiences on a musical journey which transcends cultural boundaries and reveals ancient wisdoms, even inviting them to join him in lively singalongs and meditative mantras.

Tenzin’s message is uplifting and his obvious joyfulness is infectious.
