Join a tight-knit trio of loud, yellow-crested cockatoos (Birmba) as they encounter a once-in-a-century event which will have them digging deep to find their voices.

Birmba is an interactive, super fun yet sensitive play, that explores the lives of the feathered, rainforest Jawun (friends): Kukubaka (Talk Too Much), Jankaji (Wealth of Knowledge), and Junkurrji (Strong One).

This First Nations story, developed in the Kuku Yalanji region tells the story of friendship, grief, strength and weakness between the three, who share their personal journeys through song, dance and yarns, each trying to communicate to their fellow Rainforest Jawun along the way.

Written by Merindi Schreiber, supported as part of Sparks 2020/21.
