Carmina Burana

Experience the grandeur of the beloved and popular CARMINA BURANA at the Perth Concert Hall presented by the UWA Choral Society on Sunday, August 13th at 2.00pm. Even an untrained classical ear would recognize the thunderous opening chorus, 'O Fortuna'. Ancient chants, exhilarating rhythms, and hauntingly beautiful melodies collide, creating a display of choral grandeur that has been used in films, television shows, and advertisements.

The prestigious UWA Choral society will showcase Carl Orff's monumental masterpiece with 100 talented choir singers, accompanied by exceptional soloists, musicians, and the Aquinas student choir under the masterful direction of conductor Kris Bowtell. This performance also features a new work by Lydia Gardiner titled "What would I give..." which explores the themes of time and the transience of life, with the Aquinas Schola Cantorum adding a touch of innocence and wonder.

The UWA Choral Society, as the oldest and most distinguished choir in the state, returns to the very stage where they performed at the Perth Concert Hall's grand opening in 1973.
