Qtopia Sydney is proud to present the 'Live at the Bandstand' Program - an intimate live activation space that celebrates the voices and stories of the queer community.

Cassy Judy - Sun 24 Sept – Qtopia Bandstand, Sydney
4pm-5.30pm

Cassy Judy, a proud transgender woman, criminal lawyer, community activist and alt/folk musician from Sydney, releasing her debut album 'Body Parts' - a slightly madcap and hilarious tour of the body. From the country twang of the ‘Toe-Sucking Texan Strikes Again’ to the catchy singalong-ability of ‘Arse’ – the ‘Body Parts’ album has all the makings of a deadset Aussie classic! Filled with witticisms, double entendre and clever wordplay, ‘Body Parts’ AKA ‘Cassy’s Untold Story Of Gender Transition’ album is both a musical gem and side-splittingly funny! These songs have been road-tested on live audiences who have pleaded for their imminent release.

Cassy weaves together these improbable themes backed by Lindy Morrison (The Go-Betweens), Alison Gould (Snarski Circus Lindy Band) and Sydney live music stalwart Russel Neal (lead guitar).
Cassy has performed at the National Folk Festival, Broken Heel Festival and Coastal Twist and is a regular fixture of the Queer Live music scene in Sydney with crowd-pleasing appearances at Trans Glamore, Queer as Fvck and the Townie.

Described as a wild trans mashup of Paul Kelly and Orville Peck, the Body Parts show runs high on humour and crowd engagement, weaving hilarious songs with entertaining artistry. It's an alt-rock extravaganza with cameos from electro-pop and Tarantino noir-cool, this collection of songs, charts real-life events in Cassy's gender transition! Questions you've always wondered but were too afraid to ask, such as - is life much nicer with a giney? And whatever happened to the Australian textiles, clothing and footwear industry?
