Guy Troughton Brushes with Nature

A stunning solo exhibition by Sydney-based artist and master watercolourist, Guy Troughton, Brushes with Nature features sublime watercolours along with oil and acrylic paintings inspired by elements in the Australian landscape and the artist’s profound personal encounters with the natural world.

With a naturalist’s eye of observation, Troughton focuses in on facets of the landscape rather than the ‘big picture’ capturing the intricacies and beauty of the bush – its ancient rocks, giant gums and waterways and the birds that live there. Many of the evocative works have layers of meaning – starting points for the viewer to connect in their own way.

Troughton says he is drawn to the abstract shapes and the interplay of light colour and textures in a landscape. Equally, he aims to delve deeper to explore our intrinsic relationship to nature and our interconnectedness.

Renowned for his beautiful watercolours and bird and animal portraiture, Guy Troughton’s award-winning work has featured in major natural history publications and his wildlife paintings held in notable collections worldwide.
