Icon Painting course

Learn the technique of Byzantine Icon Painting. Explore the basic ideals and principles as well as symbolism of colours and Byzantine theology on which iconography is founded. Please note that materials for the course are expensive if purchased independently by students. The tutor shares material with all students, therefore students need to contribute $50 (not included in the course fee). A purchase of gold leaf is for advanced students only and needs to be discussed with the tutor on the first day. Any other material mentioned by the tutor can be purchased on the day from your tutor (or it can be purchased independently). This course is not suitable for those who are not comfortable using animal-based material. The gilding technique is not taught in this class but may be demonstrated by the tutor.
