MICMC - Round 2

Musica Viva Australia is thrilled to announce the 14 selected ensembles for the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition.

The Competition welcomes applicants who embody chamber music’s ability to engage both mind and heart with performances that delight, inspire and challenge. MICMC ensembles ensure a vibrant future for chamber music, demonstrating and redefining the inimitable relationship between players, audiences, and composers for the 21st century.

String Quartets and Piano Trios are required to perform the MICMC commissioned work; and a complete 19th or 20th century Romantic work.

In addition to the required repertoire above, all competitors may perform a work of their own choice in either Round One or Round Two.

Following Round Two, the jury will select five (5) string quartets and five (5) piano trios to proceed to the Semi Finals Day.

There are 5 concerts in Round 2, three on Wednesday at 10am, 2:30pm and 7:30pm, and two on Thursday at 10am and 3pm.
