Harp Songs and Dances for Market Sunday Concert

The April Music on a Market Sunday Concert will be a week earlier than usual to avoid clashing with the New England Bach Festival. The concert at 12:30pm on 23 April in the Armidale Uniting Church will feature songs and dances for harp and voice composed by Benjamin Thorn and performed by him and Heloise Fortin.

Benjamin is one of Armidale’s leading musicians and has an international reputation as a composer. Many of the songs in the program were originally written for local theatrical performances and will include songs to texts by local poets Val Chubb and Merle Goldsmith.
Heloise grew up in Armidale and is currently studying in Sydney. She has performed in the New England Bach Festival and elsewhere.

Admission to the concert is free, though donations are encouraged. While there are no CoVid restrictions the audience is encouraged in social distancing and CoVid safe behaviour. Tea and Sausage will be available at the church before the concert.
