Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 23rd July 2023 with free music entertainment with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club. This event is also sponsored by Masonic Care who are great supporters of Perth Folk and Roots Club. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Green Herring with a CD launch and Tea and Whisky.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes back Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters Green Herring with a CD launch and Tea and Whisky to perform at Perth Folk and Roots Club‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Green Herring plays high energy, low voltage folk music influenced by blues, bluegrass, and country. Their originals are written to raise awareness and also give hope in a time of climate emergency. Green Herring is made up of Irma Lachmund, Lee Goodall (both mandolin, guitar) and Andy Hardy (double bass). They have just recorded their first CD and are chuffed to launch it in their old stomping ground Mount Lawley. Their CD ‘In Hot Waters’ features 13 originals in the folk and bluegrass styles. Song topics include good community mental health, regenerative living, the climate crisis and tips for staying sane in crazy times! Since last performing at Perth Folk and Roots Club in 2020, Green Herring moved to the biodiversity hotspot of the Southwest of WA and now feel even stronger about their message. Green Herring have previously played at Albany Maritime Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Bridgetown Blues, Fremantle Market Bar, Perth Blues Club, Neurum Creek Music Festival, Bony Mountain Music Festival, Victorian Folk Music Club, Healesville Music Festival, Manjimup Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival, and many venues in Greenbushes.

Tea & Whisky are an acoustic folk-jazz-blues duo performing songs ranging from quirky and fun to heart-fully insightful. They are a musical meeting of the whimsical with the full-bodied, and of a lazy Sunday vibe with the intensity of a passionately-lived life. Tea & Whisky members are Alex Hey, AKA Alex-the-cellist, and Raelene Bruinsma, singer/songwriter/storyteller/vocal teacher and community choir director, who joined forces to bring you voice, cello, flute, occasional percussion, and several varieties of guitar, served up in varying combinations in the service of songs. Tea & Whisky repertoire is a mix of lively and soulful covers and originals. They combine playful fun with rich and resonate, edgy and bright, delicate and light delivery.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
