Perth Folk and Roots Club is back starting a new year at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 22nd January 2023 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Bev Abela and The Snake Charmers.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes Bev Abela and The Snake Charmers to perform at Perth Folk and Roots Club‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Bev Abela plays a blend of blues and country rock along with some original and contemporary songs that have an appeal to a wide audience. She has previously played with the band Cat Amongst the Pigeons fusing voices into soulful harmonies to create a unique sound. In more recent times Bev released an album in 2020 called Heartfelt. It received airplay in Australia as well as international critical acclaim including plays Hillzfm and Abbey Radio in the UK as featured international artist of the week and the USA’s The Women of Substance podcast in their Songs with a Conscience Series plus locally featured Artist on The Australian Country Songwriters Show and many other Australian stations. She also plays with a band featuring Nick Northcott on guitar, Max John on drums and Penelope Martella on piano.

The Snake Charmers are a Midland based rock and roll band that play a range of choice covers and some originals and play around the Midland and Bayswater area in Perth. Their choice of cover songs indicates their musical influences including Warren Zevon, Tom Waites, Velvet Underground, Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave. The Snake Charmers are Dan Keel on vocals, Trevor Osborne on bass, Mark Wheeler on guitar, Penny Leith on keyboards and vocals and Pete Lukasz on drums. Pete Lukasz has also previously released a solo album entitled Loves Shadow.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
