Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 23rd April 2023 with free music entertainment with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Gabriele Campani and The Blue City Wailers.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes back Gabriele Campani and newcomers The Blue City Wailers blues band to perform at Perth Folk and Roots Club‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Gabriele Campani is a solo performer and combo artist from Europe. He's an acoustic guitar player, singer, composer and arranger with more than 30 years of professional experience, with a repertoire of blues, jazz, folk, European and American popular tunes, and original compositions. A sort of journey in the evolution of the acoustic guitar and beyond, from traditional to contemporary musicians, he combines different expressions and feelings. On the acoustic side he gives musical interpretations of James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and also Rev. Gary Davis, Doc Watson, Robert Johnson, Jorma Kaukonen, Ry Cooder, Tommy Emmanuel. On the jazzy side, he has original finger-style arrangements of Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, George Gershwin, Carlos Jobim, and other standards from an international repertoire (The Beatles, Ray Charles, Paul Simon, Van Morrison). Gabriele has performed in clubs, cafes, music festivals and theatres in Italy, America, Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand, and now in Australia. He has performed in Perth at the John Street Café , Trio Café and Perth Blues Club.

The Blue City Wailers play Chicago inspired blues from the Perth area newly formed with homegrown members and players from New Zealand and England playing gritty authentic covers and originals. Blue City Wailers feature Adam “Careless” Norton on harp, Brad “Edgar” Wintle as lead vocalist / lead guitarist, Grant ‘Big G’ Hills on the drums and Ned Holthouse on bass. Adams influences include Big Walter Horton, Little Walter, Junior Wells and all the major Chicago Scene players. Brads influences include Albert King, Albert Collins, Freddie King, BB King, Robben Ford and Eric Clapton. Adam also favours static crystal microphones as used by the major players in the 50’s to the 70’s, marine band harps and a heavily modified Fender Super Reverb for live work. They have all done their time playing with numerous bands and venues and are now focussed on Chicago blues.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
