Sunshine Coast music appreciators are in for a treat when the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) visits to perform at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on Friday, 31 March 2023.

Flinders will proudly present the masterful QSO’s Hymn to Mother Earth concert in the Flinders Performance Centre, Buderim from 7:30pm.

It has been many years since the QSO performed in the region, making it an exciting milestone concert for all ages on the Sunshine Coast.

Tickets are on sale now and open to the public at https://www.trybooking.com/CFRVO,

Like nature itself, this concert is designed “to soothe you, fill you with awe and refresh your soul”.

The concert will be conducted by the QSO’s Principal Guest Conductor Johannes Fritzsch who will bring Mother Earth to life with a span of music from across the globe and history, inspired by the natural world.

German-born Johannes Fritzsch has conducted many leading orchestras around the world and conducts the major Australasian orchestras as well as leading productions for Opera Australia, Opera Queensland, West Australian Opera and State Opera of South Australia.

Among many career highlights, in 2017 the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra invited Johannes to design and lead the newly founded Australian Conducting Academy.

The program presents magical musical depictions of nature, including Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe’s evocative work ‘From Uluru’, depicting the heartland of the Australian outback.

Also on the program is Smetana's ever-popular ‘The Moldau’, following the course of a river from a tiny stream (the flute) through to its majestic outpouring into the ocean.
