Brilliant young pianists, Jake Cheong and Dono Ng perform a recital of high-level virtuosity, presented by Wyvern Music Forestville as part of the “Rising Young Pianists” series.

This concert opens with Jake playing Schumann’s Humoreske followed by Liszt’s 8th Etude, considered to be one of the most difficult concert studies every written for piano. Dono continues with Godowsky’s transcription of Gute Nacht (Good Night), Schubert’s first song from “Winterreise”, finishing the recital with 20th Century Russian composer Medtner’s dazzingly difficult “Night Wind” Sonata.

Born in South Korea, Jake Cheong has been awarded several prestigious scholarships and has won prizes at a number of international competitions including the Golden Classic Music Awards, performing in Carnegie Hall, New York. Hong Kong-born Dono Ng was the 3rd prize winner of the 2021/2022 Lev Vlasseko Piano Competition and has performed concertos with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and at Elder Conservatorium. Both Jake and Dono have recently completed their Bachelor of Music Performance Degrees at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and were recipients of the George Henderson Scholarship, funding their participation in the International Summer Piano Academy in Switzerland.
