The Le Basque Trio of tenor, Benjamin Oxley, French Horn player, Robert Johnson and pianist Cheryl Oxley perform a richly contrasting program with a common theme from different eras and places, with masterful and insightful interpretations of music by Beethoven, Schumann, Berlioz, Massenet, Alfred Hill and Andrew Ford, English folk-songs, and the evocative Serenade of Benjamin Britten as the centrepiece of the program.

You will hear a beautiful arrangement for the trio of Beethoven’s popular song of yearning, “Adelaide”. You will enjoy the Three Pieces for horn and piano by Alfred Hill followed by Britten’s Serenade which showcases the expressive and virtuosic abilities of tenor, horn and piano. You will be moved by Schumann’s “Schöne Wiege meiner Leiden”, another song which expresses the longings of unrequited love, Berlioz’s "Le jeune Pâtre Breton,” a romance for voice, horn ad libitum and piano and Jules Massenet's Élégie, one of the most popular melodies of the late 19th Century. Finally you will be entertained by Andrew Ford’s atmospheric "A Martian Sends a Postcard Home" for tenor, horn and piano and a delightful arrangement of Three Old English Songs.
