Led by MCR co-founder and teacher Himboy, Selfie Circle classes explore self tying with a focus on diversity of tying methods and accessibility. Whether you tie for the feeling and emotion side of Shibari, practice and skill development, or just to get some rope on your body, you'll enjoy the class, build some community and walk away with a tips and tricks to grow and build your practice.

Class Logistics
Floor tying class will be 2-4pm, followed by air class from 4-6pm. Both the floor and self tying classes will have elements of teaching, guided practice and free self tying time. Participants not meeting the minimum skill requirements below may be asked to sit out for some or all workshop activities, and will not be refunded. Please be aware that self tying can be physically and/or emotionally demanding, so it is suggested that you bring snacks, drinks and any other aftercare needs.

Skill Requirements
Floor tying
Attending students must have knowledge of a stable single column tie with their specific rope, and it is preferred that they have attended several beginner rope classes. This class will not involve suspension, however as floor tying does still have some risks, it is important that students have begun to explore and develop their personal risk profiles, both in terms of physical and emotional risk. A small amount of class rope (hempex) will be available for use by students.

Air tying
Attending students must have knowledge of a stable single column tie with their specific rope, and it is must either be attending the floor tying workshop earlier in the day, or have either attended multiple intermediate MCR classes as a rigger AND received permission from Himboy upon request. Students must have knowledge of their own personal risk profile, as well as knowledge of rope safety surrounding nerves and use of their personal cutting implement.

All self suspension will require an individual spotter, and as such, students will learn to spot for each other and take turns on points. Permission to suspend must be granted by teaching staff prior to suspension. Attending this class DOES NOT guarantee that a student will be able to self suspend.
Students should provide their own rope, carabiners/ring/etc, slings, and cutting implement.

Attendance Requirements
This is a 18+ dry event, no minors, no alcohol or drugs.
Despite the changes in vaccination mandate laws, I request for my own health and the health of those around me that unvaccinated people provide a medical exemption prior to the event or else do not attend. If you are experiencing any illness, including covid or monkeypox symptoms please refrain from attending.

Venue/Access
There are 5 steps into the venue. Wheelchair access is available through the back entrance via a ramp (please email in advance so we can get the ramp out). Amenities include a fridge for any snacks or drinks, and cups and a kettle provided. There are toilets outside of the class area. Quiet music will play during the rope practice and people are welcome to bring their sensory safety devices, fidget toys, headphones/earplugs, etc as needed.

If there are any access needs not met in this description, please contact @himboy to make any requests that would make class attendance more comfortable for you :)
