Shibari Soireé

Witness a night of rope and shibari performances designed to arouse, entice and confront the senses, presented by Himboy Events and The Motley Bauhaus.

Step into the Soirée, where the bonds of society might be momentarily released in favour of something a little more literal. Explore stories ranging from the intimate and erotic, to the wacky and wonderful, with the most creative and exciting rope and shibari performances in Naarm being presented to arouse, entice and confront the senses. Every three months, we welcome you to visit us at The Motley Bauhaus to bear witness and experience a night of artistic discovery and technical expertise.

Audience members are encouraged to attend Motley Bauhaus for a drink (of any kind) and pre-performance chats. Takeaway is allowed in the venue so come for an early dinner and enjoy some discussion with likeminded people! Performances will begin at 8pm, with an intermission halfway through the evening. Due to the sensitive nature of these performances, late-commers will not be admitted until the second performance of the evening. Please be aware that this is not a space of judgement, so please leave preconceptions at the door and enter the space with an open mind.

The organisers acknowledge that the use of rope for bondage has a complex and political history. The organisers encourage critical reflection when participating in any activities that have been used to marginalise or harm groups, as well as the support of organisations such as Pay the Rent, and Black Rainbow.
