Spotlight on Bruckner will see the orchestra take the stage for Bruckner’s 7th Symphony which he wrote as a tribute to Wagner. Perhaps the most famous of Bruckner’s symphonies, it employs the use of Wagner tubas and audiences will be treated to a line up of 8 horn players, 4 doubling on the mellow toned Wagner Tubas. Chief conductor, Paul Dean will lead the orchestra through this epic work, as well as joining violist friend and fellow Ensemble Q member, Imants Larsens to perform Bruch’s double concerto for clarinet and viola. Written for his clarinettist son, this rarely performed and unusual work will be a treat for Brisbane audiences. The concert will be performed at Venue 114 on the Sunshine Coast on 28 May.
