In a world plagued by endless drought, society's last hope lies in Cloud Farms – factories which work to create rain. There, young workers toil under the watchful eye of the Attenuators, recruiting newcomers to operate the machinery with hushed urgency.

But with a looming visit from the all-important Minister, tensions rise as the Cloud Machine remains broken, a cryptic message makes a poorly-timed appearance, and a farmer arrives late from an unauthorised adventure to an abandoned radio station.... as a group of people who have been spoken to for all their lives, this discovery becomes a symbol of hope, but also a dangerous power.

They risk capture, break every rule they've ever followed, and become a target for the Attenuators ruthless efforts to stay in control. But as old tapes are rewound, forgotten books are unredacted, and their radio mics go live, what starts a harmless bit of fun turns out to be more of an opportunity than they could have ever imagined.
