Perth Folk and Roots Club starts a new financial year in central Perth at Tattersalls Folk and Roots at the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club on Thursday 13th July 2023 with the support of the Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club and the City of Perth through their Local Activation Grant fund. The performances are from 6pm to 9pm at Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club, 2 Plain Street, Perth. For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has folk band No Mountain Band and country blues man Paul Davies. Events are free and meals are available through catering provided by The Kitchen on Cambridge, the in-house caterer providing meals for the event.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club is very appreciative of new City of Perth support through their Local Activation Grant fund and continued support of Tattersalls Bowling and Recreation Club with musicians in No Mountain Band and Paul Davies ready to bring in the financial year‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

No Mountain Band are a 5 piece bluegrass/folk group with a heart steeped in swamp, punk and gospel. They self describe their music as folk with a punk attitude that gets the crowd jumping and wanting more. Formed in 2022 by Canadian Chris Harrison, banjo/lead vox, who also pens their hugely catchy songs which range from straight bluegrass, country and murder ballads, telling tales of the darker side of life to foot-stomping tunes that fill the dance floor. Chris is joined in this global band by Alex Pazourek (Cz) on upright bass, Ian Holbrook (UK) on mandolin/vox, Stefan Hamilton (UK) on guitar/vox and Steve Gibson (AUS) on drums/vox. Between them, they have a pedigree from bands such as The Kill Devil Hills, Justin Walshe Folk Machine, The Living Wrecks and Maurice Flavel’s Intensive Care to name just a few and have graced the stages of Byron Bay Blues and even Glastonbury.

Paul Davies is an authentic, hard travelling musician. Criss crossing Western Australia playing a huge range of shows and festivals. Pulling fluid blues pattens from his ageing Gibson guitars, Paul plays a range of old time blues to folk and ragtime along with traditional country blues. Styling his playing with a fingerpicking technique on his acoustic and slide guitar. Paul has devoted his life to keeping this dying tradition alive. Recent shows has seen him play at Fire in Your Belly, La Chiquita Café and Gypsy Tapas House in Fremantle as well as the Moondyne Festival in Toodyay and the Prince of Wales Hotel in Bunbury. He says he is always happy to listen and talk with fellow music lovers. Be sure to come and say hello.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
