The Harmonix Experience

Bird's Basement will be enlivened every Wednesday by the melodic performances of The Harmonix Experience, featuring Jake Mason on the Hammond, Albare on guitar, and Andrew Swann on drums. Alongside their original compositions, the band will pay homage to the works of music legends such as Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, George Benson, and others. While these musicians bring an element of fun and entertainment to their performances, they maintain an unwavering commitment to the quality of their music. Their eclectic musical style spans jazz, funk, acid jazz, and beyond, ensuring a captivating and high-caliber musical experience for all in attendance.

About the musicians:

Jake Mason

Jake Mason is a prominent figure in the Australian music industry with over two decades of experience as a songwriter and musician. His exceptional talent has garnered him nominations from revered organizations such as ARIA and APRA. He's globally recognized for co-writing the international hit, 'This Girl' (Kungs Vs Cookin' On 3 Burners), a dance track that dominated charts in ten countries, accrued over a billion streams, and was globally the most Shazamed dance track in 2016. Mason's music beautifully merges jazz/soul with pop, showcased in his 15-album discography and underlined by his leadership of his own record label and studio, Soul Messin' Records. Over his illustrious career, he has collaborated with a myriad of esteemed artists including Tex Perkins, Richard Clapton, Josh Teskey, Kate Ceberano, and Eric McCusker, and invested time in nurturing upcoming musicians through various mentorship initiatives. As a Victorian College of the Arts alumnus, Mason is deeply rooted in Victoria's music scene, continually working to propel the dynamic energy of Australian music.

Andrew Swann

Andrew, also known as Swann, seamlessly blends swamp roots, gospel, and old-school RnB into his unique and authentic music. Starting as a session drummer, his solo career began in 2005 with his debut album, "The Braves," earning a nomination for the 2006 USA Independent Music Awards Album of the Year. Swann has showcased his talents globally, including performances at the renowned "Sweet Rhythm" jazz club in New York. Notably, he has performed his blues and jazz mix at various international festivals and renowned venues. Now based in Melbourne, Australia, Swann continues to captivate audiences with his unique fusion of blues, jazz, and backstreet soul.

Albare

Latin Grammy Nominee producer, and celebrated guitarist Albare is known for his fluid style and broad musical palette that crosses genre boundaries. Born in Morocco, raised in France and Israel, and now based in Australia, his multicultural upbringing is reflected in his fusion of jazz, blues, and international music elements. Albare has released numerous albums that have been highly acclaimed for their unique blend of melodious harmonies and captivating rhythms. He is recognized for his deep emotional connection to his instrument, which translates into his evocative performances. Over the years, Albare has toured extensively worldwide, enchanting audiences with his virtuosic skill and musical versatility.
