The Songs Of Elvis Costello: Victor Stranges & The Futurists

Experience a riveting matinee performance from local post-punk legend, Victor Stranges playing 'The Songs Of Elvis Costello' with his band The Futurists at one of Melbourne's most iconic venues Wesley Anne.

This is not a costume-changing tribute show, but rather an affirmation of The Futurists’ love for the hits and obscurities of Costello's earlier career. The four-piece band will play two sets totalling ninety minutes drawing from Costello's first twenty years of making records from 'My Aim Is True' (1977) to 'All This Useless Beauty' (1996).

Baby Animals founding member and lead guitarist Dave Leslie will be joining the band on bass guitar, along with original Futurists members Frank Scalzo (drums) and Mike Dupp (keyboards). The band will be playing the radio favourites 'Alison', 'Watching The Detectives', 'Oliver's Army', 'Pump It Up', 'Everyday I Write The Book', and 'Veronica' to the more unknown album tracks. This is the ultimate indulgence for the die-hard Elvis Costello fan.

Special guest performance is from Melbourne singer-songwriter, Tim Reid. Wesley Anne is one of Melbourne’s oldest and prettiest venues and is housed in a former church with rough stone walls.
