Uruguay Tango Day

The Consulate-General of Uruguay in Sydney and the Instituto Cervantes in Sydney collaborate to celebrate Uruguay Tango Day.

The event will feature a screening of the documentary “Cambalache” by Rosalía Alonso, which explores a new and distinct perspective of tango. Baile and Bandoneón will be the two chapters to be screened of this special documentary. This film explores the Uruguayan tango scene and portrays the change in stereotypes associated with tango through different stories. With more than sixty interviews and archival material, it narrates what happens in the spheres of Uruguayan tango.

This documentary has won important awards and support such as: Fondo de Fomento INCAU, Fondo Complemento Comuna Canaria 2018, Fondo Montevideo Filma 2018, Fondo de Accesibilidad 2020, among others.

Two professionals will perform a live demonstration of Uruguayan tango at the end of the screening, while the Consulate-General of Uruguay will provide a wine tasting.
