Did you know that Albany was a target for Russian invasion in the late 19th century? Well, maybe…

‘Russian Spy’ tells the tale of a potential Russian invasion of Albany in the late 19th century, based on government files from 1885 now housed in the State Records Office archives. The film investigates the nature of cultural and political bias as well as revealing fascinating insights into Albany’s military history.

Unpack truth from fiction and join the filmmakers and a panel of experts for a discussion of WA history and the changing image of Russia throughout the last three centuries.

The WA Reflections project returns to present five new short documentary films created by emerging West Australian filmmakers, all based around stories from the State Library and State Records Office collections.

In partnership with Screenwest.
