Don't miss the Australian premiere of the powerful documentary 'Water For Birds' at the 2023 Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, which delves into the societal impact and community intervention surrounding sexual abuse and humanitarian issues in northern India.
Developed over five years by Good Grief Productions and co-directed by Henry Gosper and Cameron Trafford, Water For Birds highlights the inspiring work of non-government organisation Guria and its alternative education centre in the Varanasi region’s red-light district.
The documentary sheds light on the community's struggle with multi-generational prostitution, child prostitution and human trafficking. It also offers an insight into Guria's impactful peer learning program and its remarkable leaders, including founder Ajeet Singh.
