Join us for a special workshop by contemporary Aboriginal weaver Wanita Lowe to be held in and around the woven sculptures on display in Tjanpi Desert Weavers’ exhibition Mutukaku Ngura: Motorcar Country.

Wanita Lowe will bring her traditional culture and skills to this weaving workshop aimed at people of all ages. Wanita is a Dunghutti woman who grew up on Wiradjuri land and has two beautiful daughters of Gamilaraay descent. Her work conveys contemporary storytelling of her culture, using elements of tradition mixed with visual urban techniques.

Wanita's Aboriginal heritage is reflected in her work drawing inspiration from her culture through storytelling using ceramics, basket weaving, painting, drawing and printing.

Wanita Lowe will be at the Centre between 12pm–3pm to chat with people about her practice, work and weaving. Either drop in for a short time and watch Wanita demonstrate weaving or stay around for a while and make a small woven work to take home.
