The inaugural Black Bold Brothers Men’s Gathering Forum team has announced acclaimed actor/comedian/writer Steven Oliver will host the event on Friday 7th June at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. Steven Oliver has worked with numerous theatre companies and arts organisations across Australia and is recognised for his roles on the television show “Black Comedy” and for being the quiz master on “Faboriginal”.

The Black Bold Brothers Men’s Gathering Forum is powered by a driving force of First Nations businessmen, professionals, and Elders: Michael Connolly, Mark Yettica-Paulson, Barry Lea, Phillip Sariago, Will Muckan and Cameron Callope.

Cameron Callope said, “The Black Bold Brothers concept has been urgently needed, not only within the Indigenous community, but in the Australian conversation at large. The negative narrative of Indigenous men in Australia has led to stark health and judicial outcomes for Indigenous boys and men. Here in Australia, Indigenous men are the most incarcerated ethnic group per-capita, in the World. These statistics have bred harmful outcomes for Indigenous men and boys. So, it is through initiatives like Black Bold Brothers that we begin to take our first significant steps towards addressing that narrative; and that is through sharing, truth-telling, and healing.”

A new initiative that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men to come together to network, share stories, and discuss men’s business, Black Bold Brothers will engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men in a culturally competent program where First Nation guest speakers will discuss important topics and with participants, develop strategies to build their resilience, improve well-being and change the narrative of our men. This is an opportunity for our men and youth to connect in a culturally respectful and authentic way.

Gathering topics:

Black 2 Basics
Boys 2 Men
Culture 2 Career
Brother 2 Brother

In the evening, all are welcome to join us for a night of style and individuality at the Black Bold Brothers Men’s Fashion Parade, witness the latest trends in First Nations fashions and accessories modelled by our men in a display of boldness and creativity. This in-person event promises to be a night to remember, filled with music and fabulous fashion. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to celebrate First Nation originality and style with our Black Bold Brothers!

Tickets for both events are on sale now with sales closing at 5pm on Friday 31st May.
