2100 - Lighthouse Mouse

fhae is Ellena Ramsay’s (she/he/they) Meanjin based experimental-ambient-folk project combining ethereal haunting vocals with organic instrumentation and raw percussive production.

Since Ramsay established the project in 2021, they have released 4 LPs (ehu ofepr, sombre thorax, she lives within me and my tethered heart grows tired), 4 EPs and a string of singles and compilation appearances.

With a seemingly bottomless reservoir of curiosity, nous and creativity, there is no sign of things slowing down in 2024. fhae is one of the most prolific and compelling artists active in Meanjin today.

Their fourth album, my tethered heart grows tired, delves into the complexities of human emotions, exploring themes of anger, guilt, lust, sadness, and grief. Each track serves as a portal into the shadowy recesses of the soul, where suppressed feelings linger beneath the surface.

The aching, slowly evolving songs of Sebya are masterpieces of economy and feeling. Songwriter Demetry Malahoff, along with cellist Felicity Mohr, bassist Felix Armytage, and drummer Talia Bond, use space and beauty to drag the listener back home to tender and true places. Spellbinding live, and not to be missed.

Lighthouse Mouse are a Brisbane 4-piece who’ve been hailed for their polished and fun indie/rock as well as their chaotic and charismatic live performances. Their front-man Connor Raveggi pours feelings into smooth vocals that ride over punchy and fun instrumentals and occasionally, frenzied percussion.
