Sam was born in a Sudanese refugee camp after his parents fled war-torn Ethiopia. In 1998 thanks to the UN refugee program, his family found themselves settling into their new home in New Zealand.

Today, Sam is one of Australia’s rising stars and is a multi-award-winning comedian and producer. Sam made his way across the ditch to share his hilariously unique origin story and outsider perspective on the world.

Hot on the heels of his performances at Adelaide Fringe Sam will present his brand-new show I’m a Refugee…Get Me Out of Here! at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

I’m a Refugee…Get Me Out of Here! shares Sam’s story of his parent's migration from Ethiopia to Sudan because of a civil war. This is a peek into the lives of migrants and their experiences in their new country of residence. No jokes are off limit, and the humor is dark and honest, as you would expect from rising star Sam.
