Brr! The second weekend of winter is shaping up to be a red-hot one (in terms of events, anyway) – especially if you’re a fan of film, jazz, cabaret or burlesque. There's festivals happening for each of these artforms all over the shop: Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Hoot! Adelaide Jazz Festival, The Australian Burlesque Festival... and the Human Rights Arts & Film Festival continues its national tour with screenings in Brisbane and Alice Springs. Phew!
And don't forget Monday is your Queen's Birthday holiday (except for you, WA, yours is in October!), so take advantage of your Sunday night with drinks after some footy in Adelaide, mash-up madness in Brisbane, belly laughs in Geraldton, a different kind of surf movie in Alice Springs, some modern Shakespeare in Melbourne or the quietest party you've ever been to in Sydney.
