Flo Rida ordered to pay $400,000 in damages

Flo Rida has been ordered to pay Fat As Butter promoters over $400,000 in damages for his no-show at the festival last year.

According to the Newcastle Herald, Flo Rida (who, in keeping with tradition, didn't show for the court appearance) is to pay promotors Mothership Music the $55,000 appearance fee, $7000 on airfares and hospitality, plus substantial damages for loss of renevue and sponsorships.

"The no-show by Flo Rida damaged the trading reputation of the plaintiff, impacting its ability to stage future events, attract patrons and compete with rivals in the music event industry," Judge Gibson said, hilariously referring to Tramar Dillard by his stage name.

"Sponsors were lost as news of the no-show spread far and wide through the use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube," Gibson continued.

Brent Lean from Mothership Music spoke with TMN in April regarding the fallout from Flo Rida's no-show.

"We thought decency would prevail, and simply asked for the fee, plus expenses, to be returned. After several attempts over a two-month period, his mangement still hadn’t responded in anyway to our approaches. Realising they had no interest in dealing with the matter, we then began formal legal proceedings."

In total, Flo Rida will pay $417,345, including legal costs.
