Amanda Palmer postpones Australian tour dates

Amanda Palmer has unfortunately announced the postponement of her Australian tour dates, in a worldwide cancellation or alteration of her upcoming shows for the next few months.

Unlike many other artists who keep mum over the deets regarding their date decisions (and are totally allowed to keep their business to themselves), Ms Palmer has been very open about why she in unable to land on our shores.

Sadly, her best and longtime friend, Anthony, has had dormant leukemia awaken, and needs to undergo immediate treatment - and most coreshakingly, there are no guarantees. She's being very open about the whole thing which you can read about here and here.

Palmer has rarely ever cancelled a show, let alone a global series of shows, saying she takes her professional commitments very seriously, and clearly, she regards her private promises and relationships with the utmost esteem also.

I think we can all agree that while it sucks Australia won't get to enjoy an evening with Amanda Palmer anytime soon, what is going on in Amanda's world right now is far more important.

The Amanda Palmer and Grand Theft Orchestra shows in BrisbaneByron BaySydneyMelbourneAdelaide and Perth have been postponed, but her solo show in Tasmania for MONA FOMA has been cancelled. We'll keep you updated on any new information that comes to hand regarding tour dates.

All tickets for January and February show dates will be valid for the rescheduled shows - those with tickets do not need to purchase new tickets to gain entry to the show dates. Those who need a refund before the rescheduled dates are announced, please contact your relevant ticketing agency directly.

All the best to Anthony and Amanda.
