Distract yourself with Chow Town choices and robot b-ball at Big Day Out

Australia's premier touring summer music festival Big Day Out is once again proving itself a pioneer of the music festival zeitgeist, as it fleshes out its Distractions for each Big Day.

One of the most exciting tidbits revealed were the Chow Town menus for each city - featuring food by hip local dining icons, including Melbourne's Huxtaburger and Anada, Sydney's Porteno and Longrain, Gold Coast's The Kettle and Tin and Peasant, Adelaide's Veggie Velo and Devour, and Perth's Greenhouse and El Compa to name just a few.

All meals are $15 and under, making the gourmet goodies at Chow Town both highly desirable, delicious and affordable. Check out the whole menu for each city here.

Other cool people Big Day Out are teaming up with is First Robotics and Macquarie Uni to share science and technology fever in a robots basketball game in the Rebound Rumble Stadium. High school brainiacs have built these robots, which at 1.5m and 50kg each, are weighing in on two teams of four - all completely manipulated and manouveured by the students to shoot some hoops.

Big Day Out are really getting in on the sport this year; there's also a Mexican wrestling bar putting on a surreal, masked, exhilirating exhibition, and also the Rock 'N' Ride tour, seeing a number of Australian musicians and personalities jump on their motorbikes and riding from the Gold Coast to Adelaide Big Days Out to raise awareness for mental health with headspace.

Check out all the other awesome Distractions on Big Day Out's website - but be sure not to miss your favourite band amidst all the fun!

Some bad news though: Sydney has 100% completely and totally sold out. Sorry guys. Check out the sideshows if there was an artist or few you were keen to see.
