Perth is throwing its largest ever festival next year with events ranging from circus and dance performances to classical music as well as affiliated film and writers festivals.
The Perth International Arts Festival program was unveiled last week by Artistic Director Jonathon Holloway and drew thousands of guests to the Perth Concert Hall who soaked up the impressive international line up.
Bands like The National, The Basics, Husky, Wally De Backer (aka Gotye), Okkervil River and psychedelic rock locals Pond will grace the stage, and family favourite and highlight event of previous years, Veles e Vents - created by Xarxa Teatre from Spain - will open the festival on Februrary 7 and run for a total of 3 nights.
In an engaging new project, Between the Desert and the Deep Blue Sea, West Australian Symphony Orchestra composer Tod Machover will create a symphony using recordings sent in by the public. People are being ask to upload or text (0498 500 100) in their ideas and recordings of the city’s sounds to answer the question, ‘what does Perth sound like?’
