Not even long ago after selling out their debut Australian tour, LA Based R&B neo-soul outfit, The Internet, have once again made all tickets fly out the door for their headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this July.

The band is known for blending smooth soul and funk, with chugging drums and slinking bass lines overlaid by front-woman Syd the Kyd’s sweet vocals. Although they began as a duo, live, The Internet is a six-piece outfit that entwines “complicated drum, bass and guitar solos into honeyed vocal landscapes” – Music Feeds. “(The headline Sydney show) really was something special – Syd poured her saccharine voice into the bundled maze of vibrating instruments. They managed to do all this whilst shooting blasts of magnetic soul-energy into the unsuspecting audience”.

The Huffington Post adds, “Smooth jazz rhythms fused with hip-hop sensibilities was a potent combination for the LA outfit”. ‘Ego Death’, The Internet’s third album, was released in July 2015 to critical acclaim, garnering a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album. The said album also features guest appearances from the likes of Janelle Monae, Vic Mensa and Tyler, the Creator.

“Ego Death is both spare and quietly musical, its crisp low end anchored in hip-hop as the rest of the band coolly branches out into jazz, funk and rock” – Pitchfork

“This is some of the most refreshing neo-soul to come out in years” - NPR

“They explore sonic space, allowing for exciting pivots and an industrious live show that’s as adventurous as their sound” - LA Weekly

Joining the band by support will be Dreller. Apart from the Sydney and Melbourne performances, the The Internet are also set to play Splendour In The Grass festival which will kick off on July 22.
