Castlemaine's original Fire Station now houses Public INN, a European inspired Provincial Bistro & Bar, with an old world passion for food, wine and beer. Opened in 2010, this unique venue is the culmination of many years dedicated to hospitality by experienced operators, having served in Australia and around the globe.

Public INN reflects the growing food and wine culture of Castlemaine and surrounds, with a diversity of offerings unlike anything else. A remarkable décor centres around the use of natural timbers and textures; imposing original timber trusses fit seamlessly alongside specially imported light fittings, while individually designed chairs and barstools draw inspiration from Danish designers and traditional Provence form. Handmade dining tables of deep-grained Oregon timber and burgundy leather Chesterfields provide a distinctive setting with a stunning interior.

Public INN prides itself upon the creation of a sociable ‘restaurant’ atmosphere with detailed and knowledgeable service to match. The result is a casual yet professional, all round eating and drinking depot, perfect for many options; from a quick drink or light meal from the DEPOT Bar Menu; or alternatively a longer stay nestled into one of the deep lounges, through to relaxed, extended dining over a number of courses with paired wine.
