The South Coast Writers Centre supports the creation and enjoyment of Australian literature through the provision of creative and professional development, as well as audience growth, for writers and readers of the New South Wales South Coast.
The Centre aims to promote regional writers and writing in Australia while fostering creative and professional development for South Coast writers. The development of existing and new audiences for writers and writing is strongly supported, and the distinct literary cultures of the South Coast are valued and sustained. The Centre always strives for the inclusion of South Coast writers in Australian literary culture, and ultimately endeavors to maintain social inclusion, access, equity and the participation of members in all aspects of the Centre.
The Centre’s premises are located in the University of Wollongong. The South Coast Writers Centre is a membership-based, incorporated not-for-profit organisation supported by Arts NSW, Wollongong City Council, Wollongong Art Gallery and the University of Wollongong. It is part of Litlink, a statewide network of writers’ centres.
