Cake Daddy

A delicious new interactive banquet, Cake Daddy will plunge you belly deep inside the experience of fat/ness, exploring the fabulosity and fortitude required to step into the world as a fat person today. Fat is a verb. Come and gorge on Daddy’s slice o’ vinyl disco heaven!
Cake Daddy is about being fat in a fat-phobic world. It’s about being proud of being fat: not apologising for taking up space, not trying to diet, not trying to change one's body size. The banquet introduces the GIRTHY and formidable, Cake Daddy: Yes, you may bow in his glittery presence.
Irish Collaborators Ross Anderson-Doherty and Marty Byrne team up with Australian collaborators Alyson Campbell and Lachlan Philpott (Bison, To Build a Bear, Qabarett, The Trouble with Harry, GL RY).
Complete with spatulas and wooden spoons to shake, slap and bake, Cake Daddy - the chequered Battenberg of a show - will premiere at Theatre Works. The work has been in development in Australia and Ireland with the Outburst Queer Arts Festival.
Creative Team: Ross Anderson-Doherty & Marty Byrne, Alyson Campbell, Lachlan Philpott, Siobhán Barbour, Jonathan Graffam.
