A fascinating insight detailing aspects of business activities of around 200 Chinese furniture factories with 2000 workers Australia-wide at its peak in 1911-12 concentrated in Sydney and Melbourne. As a perceived danger to the industrial advancement of "White Australia", Chinese factories were the focus of discriminatory agitation and legislation.

Researcher and presenter Peter Gibson takes us through this period addressing how the factories operated against such a background and revealing surprising new insights into the nature of Chinese Australian enterprise and indeed the "White Australia" of the day.
