German Choral Music of Contemplation directed by Dr Calvin Bowman.

Choristry's first concert of 2019 is a celebration of German choral music, ranging from simple folk settings and profound sacred masterworks through to the era of early 20th Century cabaret. Programme highlights include Brahms’ Warum ist das Licht gegeben dem Mühseligen, J.S. Bachs glorious motet Der Geist hilft unsrer Schwachheit auf, Hugo Distler’s beautiful setting of Es ist ein Ros entsprungen, Arvo Pärt’s sublime Sieben Magnificat Antiphonen, and songs from Kurt Weill’s Die Dreigroschenoper.

We look forward to you joining us for a concert of profound, uplifting and sometimes irreverent choral music.
