In its eighth year, the annual Clarice Beckett Art Award offers artists and the art-appreciative public another vibrant exhibition. Since its inception by the local art group, Artists of the Valley, the Award has drawn an increasing number of entries from professional and emerging artists. Work is presented in a range of mediums and subject matter, and always of a high calibre. The Award is held in honour of Casterton-born artist Clarice Beckett, recognised as one of Australia's most important modernist artists.
Held over the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend, in tandem with the Casterton Kelpie Muster, and Casterton Rotary Club's 'True Blue' art show, a visit is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of what Casterton has to offer.
Attendance at the opening on Friday 7 incurs $10 admission and includes light refreshments. Admission to the exhibition over the weekend is free.
