The Rotary Club of Mount Lawley is actively raising funds for Scarlett Whitmore, a four-year-old girl who is the only person in WA identified with GNB1 Syndrome, a rare disease that affects the signalling inside her cells. As a result, Scarlett is unable to independently move, communicate, or feed herself. As Scarlett gets bigger, it is becoming increasingly difficult for her parents to lift her all the time, so we are raising funds to go towards a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for Scarlett and her family. The vehicle will make transporting Scarlett so much easier and safer.
The club recently held a Toy Story 4 fundraiser for Scarlett that raised $2,474. Through other fundraising efforts by not only club members but groups outside the club, the donations fund now stands at over $10,000, but we need that to be closer to $40 000 for Scarlett’s family to afford the purchase of the vehicle. So we are hosting another fundraiser, and you are invited! On Thursday, 29 August, we are taking over the Jazz Cellar in Mt Hawthorn and hosting an evening of jazz and entertainment. So step through the red phone box and relive the spirit of the 1920s and 1930s when jazz, swing and Charleston brought new life to many small stages and made for an engaging and captivating pastime. The band will get your toes tapping, your fingers snapping and your smile cracking!
Your ticket includes entry, finger food and entertainment. Drinks will be available for purchase. Feel free to wear a splash of red or dress all in red if you like!
