Celebrating 10 years as Sydney's favourite free family Christmas event, Lights of Christmas presented by Painter Dixon and created and produced by AGB Events, will return to St Mary's Cathedral from Thursday, December 5th until Christmas night. Lights of Christmas is renowned as Sydney's premier celebration of the festive season, sharing stories of peace, joy and goodwill in dazzling designs projected across the massive Cathedral facade.

To mark the 10th anniversary of Lights of Christmas, the show will feature a sound and light experience honouring St Mary's Cathedral by transforming it in a way not seen before, tracing the Cathedral's beautiful details using light, colour and sound. Chosen by AGB Events' CEO Anthony Bastic, it is titled Ascension, drawing on the ideals of religious architecture to deliver a spectacular yet delicately rendered design over the architectural feature to create a sense of wonderment and awe, drawing the viewers spirits and sight up to the 75m high spires to the heavens.

The show will also return to the original story upon which the customs and traditions of Christmas are based. Retold through the ages, scenes will be presented as a series of dioramas represented by spectacular Renaissance artworks. A selection of Madonna and Child artworks will continue, featuring some of the magnificent Renaissance period artworks owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and for the first time also include images of the Holy Family.

For the second year, Lights of Christmas will partner with the St Vincent's Curran Foundation to raise funds, providing a platform for the public to support the Christmas fundraising. Many of Sydney's best choirs will perform across the show season. Check the website for details of which nights. Opening night will include a special international and Australian performance Collaboration.

Choirs perform nightly at 7:30pm, with projections from 8:30pm to 11pm nightly. Delicious food and beverage options will once again be available to buy on-site or you can pack your own picnic.
