Pop With Shadow – Kayo, Astral Skulls, Roles, Sissysocks

Featuring a selection of artists exploring the dark, dreamy and distorted, 8 May at The Tote (upstairs) plays host to an evening of pop—with shadow.

Creating a stir on Triple J unearthed, Kayo delivers dark-wave, dream-pop with a subterranean of cyber-gloom. Performing in rare solo mode, internationally acclaimed Astral Skulls make no-wave and pop laced with scabrous guitar. Curious newcomers Roles create new-age post punk built round a core of synth-bass and drum machine, and the refined production wizardry of synth-pop artist Sissysocks, offers a textured dreamscape with depth and melancholy.
