The Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens (FRBG) are thrilled to announce the return of the reFraming Nature exhibition, a biennial celebration of natural history through illustration. The exhibition will showcase a varied and visually stunning selection of works depicting birds, bugs, fungi, amphibians and more, submitted from artists and members of the FRBG. Entry free, or by gold coin donation.

The reFraming Nature exhibition provides the opportunity for artists and students to participate in an exhibition dedicated to the intricate art of natural history illustration, the result of which is a widely diverse display of individual expression of a traditionally scientific medium. Over the past two exhibitions, the number of participating artists has steadily grown in a spectacular foray into nature where there will be something that delights everyone. Artists who have never before exhibited are encouraged to enter and gain understanding of the processes and procedures involved in entering a non-selective exhibition.

Not only is this an opportunity for students and artists of natural history illustration to exhibit their work, ReFraming Nature is a great opportunity for art lovers and collectors to acquire beautiful original art at modest prices and for everyone to experience an art form that is accessible, highly individual, and astonishingly beautiful. Profits from the exhibition go towards supporting local artists, the FRBG and their support of the Gardens and Herbarium. Artists from previous exhibitions have been recipients of prestigious awards including Gold and Silver medals at the Royal Horticultural Society exhibition in London, The Celia Rosser Medal, The Hunt Institute (USA), and works have been purchased by our own State Collection, housed in the RBGM Herbarium.
