The second of the 2019 Sunday Series will feature the world premiere performance from the winner of the 2019 Artistic Development Fund Commission, Matan Franco. 'Only the Potential' explores the treatment of various themes and gestures, acting as musical ‘teaser’ to this program.

Stonnington Symphony is joined by 2014 Herald Sun Aria winner Kathryn Radcliffe to sing Samuel Barber’s stunning collection of musical excerpts based on the poetic depiction of the hometown of poet James Agee, 'Knoxville: Summer of 1915'.
Closing this program is Sergei Prokoviev’s 'Symphony No. 5 in Bb Major', “a hymn to free and happy Man” written in Soviet Russia in just one month during World War II.

Under the baton of Rick Prakhoff, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor for the Zelman Symphony in the magnificent Malvern Town Hall, this is a unique offering from Stonnington Symphony featuring local artists and award winning talent.

Please join us for a pre-concert talk at 1:45pm in the main hall to learn a little more about our world premiere, our guest artists and YOUR community orchestra.

A cash bar will be open per-concert, during interval and post-concert.
