The Wandering Circus is coming to Monto!

Thanks to the generous support of the North Burnett Regional Council, Monto will host this international circus troupe as part of the Wandering Circus' first ever Australian tour. People from Monto and surrounds will be invited to attend free workshops and showcases in circus arts, including cabaret, aerial performance, clowning, flow arts, fire performance, burlesque, spoken word and acrobatics.

We ask that parents/guardians make a responsible decision regarding the attendance of people under the age of 18 at the 9pm showcase. The show may feature sexual references, bad language and adult themes.

Donation tin: While these activities are being provided free of charge to the community, any donations made on the day/night will assist in covering the remaining costs of the tour. The Wandering Circus is a community group of performers who largely live off their creative endeavours, so any contribution is helpful and appreciated.

The Wandering Circus is a touring troupe of international artists skilled in performing and teaching across circus, cabaret and flow arts. They have over 100 combined years of experience in object manipulation, flow arts, fire performance, burlesque, spoken word, aerials, and acrobatics. The Wandering Circus was founded in New Zealand through the not-for-profit organisation Community Arts and Circus Trust New Zealand - Cactnz and first toured in the summer of 2018. During this time they offered workshops and shows to regional communities, with a focus on youth and culture. These workshops were complemented by skill-share gatherings and shows for the circus community and supporters in urban areas. Destinations ranged from the tiny coastal town of Granity to Tapu te Ranga Marae in Wellington. The tour reached from Dunedin on the South Island to Wellington on the North Island.

During her participation in the first tour, Sophie deLightful decided that it was Australia's turn to experience the Wandering Circus, and expand our reach to youth and circus communities in regional areas along the East Coast as well as major cities. Our troupe members come from all backgrounds, and are inspirational proof of working hard against the odds to make dreams come true.
