The Royal Australian Navy Band was established with the foundation of the Royal Australian Navy in 1913. The ensemble has approximately 35 professional full-time musicians and several reserve musicians and are based at HMAS Cerberus, Westernport Victoria; the largest naval base in Australia. Naval musicians have been deployed to almost all Operations and Peace-keeping operations since 1913 and regularly undertake sea postings as musicians in support of ADF tasks.

The Royal Australian Navy Band performs at over 250 functions a year, and supports international and national events of importance, ceremonies, remembrance events, school and community events and public festivals. They also perform in their own right across Australia in concerts at concert venues and halls to a large and diverse audience. The band sustains three major ensembles; a parade band, a wind orchestra and The Admiral’s Own big band and smaller ensembles including a woodwind quintet and trio, a brass group, a jazz group, a pop/rock acoustic trio and a full rock band.
